Tamara Harvie

International Online Support Director

My name is Tamara Harvie. I’m 34 years old, I’m a mother to a beautiful little boy and wife to an amazing husband. I love fashion, Dance and Singing. I was diagnosed with FND in late 2017 as I had what looked like a stroke. I was admitted to hospital. I went from being on a walker on my 30th birthday to a wheelchair as my legs became paralyzed from the waist down and my whole right side of my body wasn’t working for 6 months, I was confined to a wheelchair. I worked to find a new Neurologist that understood FND. He put me into rehab one week later after seeing him. I went through the process of learning how to write, speak, and walk again.  After spending 4 weeks in intense rehab. I walked out of the hospital on a walking stick and learned how to make changes in my life to suit my new diagnoses. I am one of the lucky ones.

I joined FND Hope to help understand my condition more. I learned many techniques along the way and made some very dear friends. In 2018 I was asked to join the admin team. I am very passionate about helping people and always have been. I took up the position and love it. I want to help improve the lives of members and spread much awareness about FND. Although my life has changed I try my best to stay positive and keep living my life to the fullest.

Tamara, with the help of a great admin team, provides support to patients from around the world through various online peer-to-peer FND Hope-sponsored support groups. We thank Tamara and her team for volunteering to assist others in their FND journey.
